Published: November 12, 2024

Yamato Bussan has acquired a 30% interest in an 800 MW offshore wind development in the North Sea, targeting commissioning in FY2028 under long-term power purchase agreements with major European utilities.
The transaction lifts the group's total renewable pipeline past 1.2 GW and forms part of the ¥3 trillion transition-investment programme under Compass 2030.
A Strong Presence in the North Sea
Totaling approximately ¥300 billion in project costs, this offshore wind project will supply clean electricity to millions of households. Yamato Bussan will play a leading role alongside top European partners, not just as an investor, but from the design phase through to operations and maintenance (O&M). The technical expertise gained here will be applied to future offshore wind developments in Japan and across Asia.
